Venue: Shikata Campus Medical Research Archives 3F L-Commons

On Wednesday, October 29, L-Café on the Shikata Campus hosted its first event to promote internationalization on the Shikata Campus: the “Welcome Party for International Students.”
At the opening, Zulema Arias, Coordinator of L-Café, explained the purpose of L-Café and the aims of the event. Afterwards, all participants briefly introduced themselves. A total of 38 participants attended, including students from Japan, Nepal, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Turkey, Vietnam, and Myanmar, as well as faculty and administrative staff members. In the first part of the program, students from El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Bolivia introduced the cultures and traditions of their home countries. In the second part, all participants enjoyed dancing together to Latin American music such as salsa, merengue, and cumbia. At the end of the event, participants spent time chatting, laughing, and deepening their understanding of one another’s cultures and interests, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout. As part of the ongoing efforts to promote internationalization on the Shikata Campus, these activities enabled students to improve their English and Japanese language skills while deepening their understanding of diverse cultures and traditions, and to share a meaningful time with one another.
L-Café on the Shikata Campus will continue to host multicultural exchange events, and we look forward to welcoming more students, faculty, and staff in the future.
