    • IKEBANA WORKSHOP [November 7th 14:30-16:30] On Saturday November 7th, Instructor Hiroko Murakami will lead an Ikebana Workshop for Japanese and international students. Through hands-on flower arrangement, participants will discover not only the basic techniques of ikebana but also its philosophy, including appreciation of nature, balance and harmony. After that workshop we will have a TEA CEREMONY experience lead by Shikata Campus students who belong to the SADOu club. Interested in joining this unique Japanese traditional experience event? This time our guest is Moe Thiha, a PhD student from the Dept. Pathophysiology and Drug Discovery in Shikata Campus. Since he got a PERFECT SCORE, this time Mr. Moe will share with us some tips to prepare effectively for the TOEIC test, time management strategies, Listening and reading tips and how to build confidence before the test day .   • GLOBALIZED VOICES PARTNERS 3.0 FINAL PRESENTATION [September 11, Friday 18:30-19:30] We will have the final presentation of our GVP 3.0 version. During 10 weeks a pair of International and Japanese students meet for 1 hour/week to exchange language, culture and friendship. During the final presentation they will introduce about their partners hometown, using the foreign language they learned during this set of multicultural exchange sessions. Please join us to get to know their language skills improvement and also about a foreign culture.   • KABUKI PERFORMANCE [August 25th 18:00-21:00] We are going to Takamatsu Sunport Hall which is located close to Takamatsu station, by a shuttle FREE BUS, if you want to register please scan theQR code attached to the flyer.   • GLOBALIZED VOICES PARTNERS FINAL PRESENTATION

Shikata Learning community has been hosting the Globalized Voices Partners Program .Over the past 10 weeks, an international student and a Japanese student paired up to exchange English and Japanese language, culture, and friendship . During this time, they helped each other improve their language skills and learned a lot about each other’s countries.On Friday, February 6th (18:30) they would like to share what they have learned about their partner’s country. The International student presented in Japanese and the Japanese student did it in English. This was a wonderful opportunity to see their progress and enjoy a cross-cultural experience, thanks so much for coming and joining us!

  • READY TO GO ABROAD/ PRE DEPARTURE PRESENTATION

On February 17, Shikata Learning Community hosted a Pre-Departure Presentation for a group of graduate students from the Faculty of Health Sciences who are ready to go abroad to Singapore and Indonesia. The students participated in READY TO GO ABROAD 12-week training program (one hour per week). During the training, they learned how to communicate using daily English conversation and how to prepare their research presentations in English. During the presentation session, the audience actively participated, and there was an engaging discussion between the presenters and attendees. Although one of the biggest challenges was responding to questions in English, all of the “Ready to Go Abroad” participants did their very best to answer confidently. Congratulations to all of you, and thank you very much for joining the SHIKATA LC activities!

  • CONSECUTIVE ENGLISH JAPANESE INTERPRETATION COURSE (FINAL PRESENTATION)

During April and May 2026, Shikata Learning Community (Shikata LC) hosted a Consecutive English–Japanese Interpretation Course for seven students from the Shikata and Tsushima campuses. Under the guidance of professional interpreter Ms. Hiroko Ogasawara, participants developed their interpretation, communication, and public skills speaking. The graduates became the founding members of the Shikata Bridge Team , which supports multilingual communication and intercultural exchange on campus. The program concluded with the seminar “Working and Studying Abroad,” where two associate professors shared their international experiences, inspiring students to study abroad and pursue global academic careers. Through this initiative, Shikata LC contributed to the internationalization of Shikata Campus by fostering language skills, cross-cultural understanding, and global engagement.
