• GLOBALIZED VOICES PARTNERS FINAL PRESENTATION

Shikata Learning community has been hosting the Globalized Voices Partners Program .Over the past 10 weeks, an international student and a Japanese student paired up to exchange English and Japanese language, culture, and friendship . During this time, they he lped each other improve their language skills and learned a lot about each other’s countries.On Friday, February 6th (18:30) they would like to share what they have learned about their partner’s country. The International student presented in Japanese and the Japanese student did it in English. This was a wonderful opportunity to see their progress and enjoy a cross-cultural experience, thanks so much for coming and joining us!

• READY TO GO ABROAD/ PRE DEPARTURE PRESENTATION

On February 17, Shikata Learning Community hosted a Pre-Departure Presentation for a group of graduate students from the Faculty of Health Sciences who are ready to go abroad to Singapore and Indonesia. The students participated in READY TO GO ABROAD 12-week training program (one hour per week). During the training, they learned how to communicate using daily English conversation and how to prepare their research presentations in English. During the presentation session, the audience actively participated, and there was an engaging discussion between the presenters and attendees. Although one of the biggest challenges was responding to questions in English, all of the “Ready to Go Abroad” participants did their very best to answer confidently.
