Bacteriology
Professor: MATSUSHITA Osamu
Our education and research focus on pathogenic bacteria, bacteriophages, and their proteins and genomes. We are: 1. Investigating the structure and function of toxin proteins to fuse their functional domains with other useful moieties for regenerative medicine; 2. Analyzing phage-derived enzymes to induce changes in intestinal microbiota; and 3. Studying the genes and genomes of emerging bacteria concerning to their pathogenicity and antimicrobial resistance. We are exploring the evolution and adaptation of bacteria and bacteriophages to create novel therapeutics.
