We provide not only an expert model of care for congenital heart disease but also a wide range of research activities as manifested by cardiac specialization. Our research teams, consisting of both adult and congenital cardiovascular surgeons, seek to dissect the pathogenesis of congenital heart disease, to develop a novel artificial vascular graft and valve, to establish a system of heart transplantation from donation after circulatory death and/or marginal brain death donors, and to elucidate the molecular interaction of cardiovascular disease using microdialysis.
