Natural Products Chemistry

We are using organisms such as plants as crude drugs, but many Western medicines are also developed based on natural products, organic compounds produced by organisms. In our laboratory, we are trying to find new bioactive natural products that could be new drug seeds from various organisms such as plants, fungi, marine organisms, and microalgae. We are also engaged in research to understand the biosynthetic machineries for bioactive natural products by analyzing the biosynthetic genes and use them in drug development.
