Oral Microbiology

We are focusing on periodontal bacteria and mycobacteria including tubercle bacilli. They have in common that they can cause chronic infections basically. To understand how infectious diseases are occurred, we have to know both the pathogenicity of pathogens and the response of host on infection of pathogens. Especially, responses of tissues and cells of host are very important factors to develop diseases in chronic bacterial infections. Our goal is to establish novel methods to control the infectious agents.
