Falsified medicines represent a significant global challenge, threatening public health and eroding trust in the safety, quality, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products. In addition, the illicit profits derived from falsified medicines are often linked to organized crime, creating broader societal concerns beyond healthcare.
Our laboratory strives to enhance pharmaceutical sustainability and security by developing advanced analytical methods for the detection and identification of falsified medicines. By integrating perspectives from social pharmacy with multimodal physicochemical characterization of pharmaceutical products, we address critical issues that compromise the reliability of medicines, including improper distribution practices and inappropriate use of medicines, both of which can facilitate the circulation of falsified medicines.
Through interdisciplinary research and innovation, we seek to safeguard patients from medicine-related risks and contribute to a healthcare environment in which safe, effective, and trustworthy pharmacotherapy is accessible to all.
