Physiology and Biophysics
Professor: TAKEUCHI Ayako
We are studying the mechanisms underlying normal and abnormal functions of various tissues, such as the heart, by combining wet physiological experiments and dry mathematical model analyses. We are particularly focusing on mitochondria, which support cellular function in multiple ways, not only through energy metabolism, but also by regulating Ca2+ signalling and cell death pathways. Our goal is to integrate and reconstruct complicated phenomena on a computer, to quantitatively understand the logic and to develop new methods to manipulate them. To this end, we are conducting multi-level analyses at the molecular, organellar, cellular, tissue, and individual levels.
Keywords
