Sanitary and Microbiology
Professor: Shin-ichi Miyoshi
We are studying the pathogenic and beneficial actions of environmental bacteria. The bacteria are moving between the environment and humans, and they can recognize and adapt to the new living circumstances. For example, human body temperature is maintained at around 36 degrees throughout the year, but the environmental temperature is greatly fluctuated. We are studying to clarify how the bacteria can sense the changes of temperature and can initiate new action. Our studies will give some hints to develop a new effective procedure to eliminate the bacteria causing infectious diseases.
