Molecular Membrane Biology
Associate Professor: Takaaki Miyaji
Transporters are membrane proteins responsible for the transport of neurotransmitter, drugs, metabolites and minerals, and are important for maintaining homeostasis. Although the malfunction of transporters causes many diseases, the functions of a majority of transporters remain unknown. We aim to identify the new functions of transporters by utilizing a universal transport assay system, and to reveal the physiological and pathological roles of transporters for transporter-targeted drug discovery as first-in-class.
